Neogen Real Vita C Powder Lemon is my new favorite application for vitamin C. It contains “17% ascorbic acid (pure vitamin C), along with ingredients like allantoin, hydrolyzed collagen, trehalose, and lemon extract to hydrate and revitalize dull, tired skin for a more even, radiant and glowing complexion in a convenient travel-friendly powder”. (Soko Glam) I, self-proclaimed vitamin C serum junkie, now refuse to buy liquid vitamin C serums.
COSRX Triple C Lightning Liquid was once my ultimate holy grail vitamin C. It cleared up my hyper pigmentation quickly and brightened my face. However, there is one major drawback: liquid vitamin C is notorious for rapid oxidation. Once you open the bottle, oxidation begins. The more the serum oxidizes, the less effective it is. There are ways you can slow this, such as storing it in a cool, dry, and dark place. But oxidation is unfortunately inevitable.
Powdered vitamin C, however, does not oxidize. Its powdered form allows you to DIY a custom vitamin C serum when you’re ready to use it. All it takes is one scoop of the powder using the included spoon and your favorite toner or essence to mix it in. (It is recommended that you use a toner or essence that does not also contain active exfoliants to avoid irritation.)
Finding a powder and liquid combo that works for you can take some trial and error. I’ve found that I like it most mixed with plain rose water or Cosrx Advanced Snail Mucin 96 Power Essence. I sometimes even combine the two liquids because the powder doesn’t dissolve as well in thicker liquids, causing some grittiness.
No matter what I use it with, though, I can easily say that Real Vita C Powder Lemon is my new holy grail. It’s not as powerful as Triple C Lightning Liquid, but it does still visibly brighten my skin and help fade my hyper pigmentation. Do you have any experience with powdered vitamin C?
